The Widus Group, owner and developer of the Widus Hotel and Casino complex in the Clark Freeport Zone, has confirmed the first phase of the expansion of the resort has an estimated cost of PHP12bn ($235.2m).
In March, the company announced the property will be rebranded as Hann Casino Resort when its current expansion is completed in late 2020. As part of phase one of the revamp, the existing Widus Casino “will be transferred to a new location” and rebranded as the Hann Casino, a company spokesperson stated. Meanwhile, a new facility, Swissotel Hotels and Resorts, is targeted to open in late 2020.
The existing Widus Hotel will be converted to the Mercure Hotel after its renovation is completed by 2022.
The complex would continue to offer “only one casino” while “the new hotels will not have any casino or gaming spaces,” the company confirmed.
“[Hann Casino Resort] is going to be a genuine, truly first integrated resort outside Metro Manila with Marriott, with Swissotel, with Mercure, and a lot of entertainment and F&B,” said Daesik Han, president and CEO of Hann Development Corp, a member of the Widus Consortium. He added that Hann Resorts seeks to establish itself not only as an international destination brand for tourists, but also as a “powerful master brand”.
